En este episodio hablaré de los tipos de transporte particulares más comunes en Perú: el taxi, el colectivo y el mototaxi.
Significado:
- El taxi es un automóvil de servicio privado que transporta personas a los lugares que ellas solicitan, generalmente los taxis en Perú no tienen taxímetro.
- Los colectivos son taxis con rutas fijas y recogen a varios pasajeros en el camino.
- Los mototaxis son motocicletas de tres ruedas y con techo que se usan como medio de transporte popular para distancias cortas.
Ahora vamos por el contexto. ¿Cuándo se usan estas palabras?
Estas palabras se usan diariamente en las ciudades y pueblos donde existe este tipo de transporte terrestre.
Ejemplos:
- —Vamos a ver si conseguimos un taxi —murmuró el doctor, parándose al borde de la avenida.
- Después de pagar el taxi, fuimos a la Plaza de Armas, para que Javier y Pascual tomaran un colectivo a Lima.
- Prefirió llamar a un taxi y enviar en él a su madre de regreso a casa.
- Sin apurarme, fui a tomar el colectivo a Miraflores en la Plaza San Martín.
- A los 44 años, conduce su mototaxi en Canto Rey, al fondo del inmenso distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho.
Y ahora unos datos extras:
En las ciudades grandes, el precio del servicio en taxi se pacta entre el pasajero y el taxista. Por otro lado, en ciudades más pequeñas, el servicio tiene un precio general desde cualquier lugar de la ciudad.
En los últimos años se ha popularizado el uso de aplicaciones móviles para llamar a los taxis, estableciendo el precio en la misma aplicación.
Muchos de los colectivos no tienen permisos para brindar ese servicio, por lo que se recomienda ser cuidadosos.
Los mototaxis son más populares en la selva, donde se originaron; pero la mayor cantidad de mototaxis se encuentra en Lima.

In this episode I’ll talk about the most common types of private transport in Peru: taxi, colectivo, and mototaxi.
Meaning:
- Taxi is a private service automobile that transports people to the places they request. Generally, taxis in Peru do not have a taximeter.
- Colectivos are taxis with fixed routes and they pick up several passengers along the way.
- Mototaxis are three-wheeled motorcycles with roofs that are used as a popular means of transportation for short distances.
Now let’s go to the context. When are these words used?
These words are used daily in cities and towns where this type of ground transportation exists.
And now… some examples:
- “Let’s see if we can get a taxi,» muttered the doctor, standing at the edge of the avenue.
- After paying for the cab, we went to Plaza de Armas, so that Javier and Pascual could take a colectivo to Lima.
- He preferred to call a taxi and send his mother back home.
- Without hurrying, I went to take the colectivo to Miraflores at Plaza San Martin.
- At the age of 44, he drives his mototaxi in Canto Rey, deep into the huge district of San Juan de Lurigancho.
And now some extra information:
In large cities, the price of the taxi service is agreed between the passenger and the taxi driver. On the other hand, in smaller cities, the service has a general price from anywhere around the city.
In recent years, the use of mobile apps to ask for a taxi has become popular, establishing the price in the same app.
Many of the colectivos do not have any license to provide this service, so caution is advised.
Mototaxis are more popular in the jungle, where they originated; but the largest number of mototaxis are found in Lima.
