En este episodio hablaré de los tipos de buses más comunes en Perú: el autobús o bus, el microbús o el micro y el ómnibus.
Significado:
- El autobús es un vehículo automóvil de transporte público y trayecto fijo que se emplea habitualmente en el servicio urbano.
- El microbús es un autobús de menor tamaño que el usual.
- El ómnibus es un vehículo de transporte colectivo para trasladar personas, generalmente son interprovinciales y no urbanos.
Ahora vamos por el contexto. ¿Cuándo se usan estas palabras?
Estas palabras se usan diariamente en las ciudades y pueblos donde exista este tipo de transporte terrestre.
Ejemplos:
- Subía a los microbuses urbanos de Lima y, haciéndose el dormido, seguía su recorrido hasta el final.
- Los taxistas, conductores de ómnibus, microbuses y de las camionetas rurales, se ven obligados a hacer un gasto adicional del 30 por ciento sólo por consumo de combustibles.
- A ratos pasaban como truenos los ómnibus interprovinciales, y el carro de don Rafael era sacudido como por un temblor.
- Ayer, tanto pasajeros como choferes de los microbuses que circulaban por la avenida fueron sorprendidos por la policía de tránsito.
- Los peatones transitaban por el primer carril de la pista. El segundo estaba ocupado por una fila interminable y lenta de autobuses.
Y ahora unos datos extras:
Los autobuses o buses tienen paraderos y los ómnibus interprovinciales solo tienen terminales.
Los microbuses y autobuses conforman la mayor parte del servicio de transporte urbano en las grandes ciudades peruanas.
En el transporte urbano de Perú, por lo general, hay dos tipos de pasaje, el “Adulto” y el “Universitario”, los universitarios pagan el 50% de un pasaje Adulto o también llamado General.
Las empresas de transporte en Perú pueden ser del Estado o privadas, desde mi punto de vista, en los últimos años, las empresas públicas han ido mejorando en su organización y servicio.

In this episode I’ll talk about the most common types of buses in Peru: autobús or bus, microbús or micro and ómnibus.
Meaning:
- The bus is a fixed-route public transport motor vehicle commonly used in urban service.
- The minibus is a bus of smaller size than the usual bus.
- The omnibus is a collective transportation vehicle for transporting people, generally interprovincial and not urban.
Now let’s go to the context. When are these words used?
These words are used daily in cities and towns where this type of ground transportation exists.
And now… some examples:
- He would get on an urban minibus in Lima and, pretending to be asleep, would continue his trip to the end of his journey.
- Cab drivers, bus, minibus and rural van drivers are forced to spend an additional 30 percent just for fuel consumption.
- At times the interprovincial buses passed like thunder, and Don Rafael’s car was shaken as if by a tremor.
- Yesterday, both passengers and drivers of the minibuses that circulated along the avenue were surprised by the traffic police.
- The pedestrians were traveling on the first lane of the road. The second lane was occupied by an endless and slow line of buses.
And now some extra information:
Autobuses have bus stops and interprovincial ómnibus only have terminals.
Microbuses and buses make up the majority of the urban transportation service in large Peruvian cities.
In the Peruvian urban transport system, there are generally two types of fares, «Adult» and «University student», university students pay 50% of an Adult fare or also called General fare.
Transport companies in Peru can be state-owned or private. From my point of view, in recent years, public companies have been improving their organization and service.
